Full Test Preparation Guide
Before you come
Book your visit, note your symptoms and when they started, and bring earlier reports, prescriptions and a list of medicines you take.
Fasting and medicines
Some blood tests need fasting and others do not. Do not stop any prescribed medicine unless your doctor tells you to. Ask the team about your specific test.
Hearing tests
Avoid loud noise before the test and tell the staff about ear pain, discharge or a recent cold. Earwax may need to be cleared first.
Laryngoscopy and ear endoscopy
Tell your doctor about allergies and any bleeding problems. Your doctor will explain the procedure and whether numbing spray is used.
Imaging tests
For ultrasound, X-ray or CT, ask the team about clothing, jewellery, fasting and, for women, pregnancy before the test.
Children
Bring a familiar toy or comfort item, explain the visit in simple words and bring any previous ear or hearing records.
